SeeAbility Week 2017

What is SeeAbility Week?

Sadly there are thousands of children and adults across the country with learning disabilities and autism that have sight problems that nobody knows about. This makes their life much harder than it needs to be, and puts them at a greater risk of irreversible sight loss.

SeeAbility week is designed to promote good eye health in the workplace, an important issue for employees who experience an increasing amount of screen time and related eye problems, and to raise much needed funds to support their life-changing work.

SeeAbility Week 2017 runs from 9th – 15th October, encompassing World Sight Day on the 12th October.

How to Get Involved

Raise Awareness

In our fast-paced digital world, the average adult now spends between 7-9 hours a day in front of a screen, which is longer than most of us sleep. As we shift constantly between different size screens and digital eye strain is commonplace, with many of us suffering from symptoms such as headaches, eye fatigue and dry eyes.

We encourage you to have a think about how to better look after your eyes and show your support for people with learning disabilities and autism, who often struggle to communicate, and are also far more likely to have sight loss.

Get Fundraising

As the main sponsor of SeeAbility Week 2017, we are asking our customers, partners and associates to get involved. The easiest way to make a difference is to make a personal donation, however it’s much more fun to get your colleagues involved too. There are many different in-office fundraisers you could try. Here are just a few ideas to get you started:

Get Sharing

We want you to share, promote and celebrate your SeeAbility Week antics, and glasses selfies so please post them on social media!

How Your Money Changes Lives

A specialist eye test costs as little as £85 and will prevent children from needlessly losing their eyesight. We have already pledged £5,000 towards SeeAbility Week, and with your help we can raise thousands more. Anything you can do would really help.
